The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is pleased to offer affordable housing for college students with internships in the Charlotte area. Intern housing is for students enrolled at a college or university and working full-time in an intern-type placement or job in the Charlotte area. Intern Housing 2008 – Summer interns will live in apartments in Laurel Hall (formerly Squires Hall). Interns will share apartment space with other interns. Laundry facilities are on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, and parking is adjacent to the building.
The housing rate covers all costs for room rent, utility charges, cable TV connection, internet connectivity, phone installation and local phone service. Intern housing rates are charged per week of occupancy. That is, you pay for the weeks you are living at UNCC. There is a $120 deposit. The deposit will be applied to your final payment if the terms of the contract are met. Intern Housing opens Sunday, May 18, and closes Saturday, August 9. Students may arrive after May 18, but our closing date of August 9 must be firmly followed, as summer intern space reverts to traditional housing use for the fall. While these dates must be firmly followed, please contact Anne Cavett for information about on-campus housing outside the May 18-August 9 dates. Cost $120.00/week There is not a deadline for Intern Housing applications. The first round of assignments will be made shortly after April 15, and interns are encouraged to apply before this date. After April 15, assignments are made based on space availability. Intern Housing does fill to capacity. An intern housing application is considered complete when the application and deposit are both received. Intern applications may be made through the Nyumba Public Gateway. For additional questions, please contact Anne Cavett at accavett@uncc.edu This web page gives you access to the Intern Contract for Summer 2008. Please read it carefully to understand all of the terms and conditions before applying for summer Intern Housing. The Intern Application, the confirmation form, and parking information are all available through the Nyumba Public Gateway. We also have information on UNC Charlotte and the Charlotte area.
