Move In Guide - Summer Residents

Welcome to UNC Charlotte Housing! We hope that this information will be of benefit to you in planning your move into campus housing. We want your transition and life on campus to be as smooth as possible!

Interim summer housing will be provided to residents enrolled in the Summer First Term if they are residing on campus at the end of Spring Semester 2008. It will allow residents to have continuous housing between the end of the Spring Semester and the beginning of the Summer First Term.

HOUSING FROM MAY 9 TO MAY 18
Where you stay during the week before check-in will depend on where you live now. Check the information below to determine what you should do. Housing staff will be notified about where you will be living after the halls close on May 9, and (if applicable), your ID card will give you access to the appropriate building.

If you currently live in Cedar, Hawthorn, Hickory, Holshouser, Laurel, Martin Village/Phase III (except authorized clean and stay residents - see note below), Oak or Sycamore, you must move to temporary housing in Scott Hall. Please be completely moved out of your current assignment (and properly checked out) by 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 9. Check-in to Scott Hall will be on Friday, May 9, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

If you currently live in Martin Village or Phase III apartments and have been assigned to the same apartment for Summer Housing, you must move to temporary housing in Scott Hall on Friday, May 9, unless you make special arrangements with us that allow you to remain in your space if you clean the apartment and pass an inspection. NOTE - INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN BEING ASSIGNED TO THEIR SPRING 2008 MARTIN VILLAGE/PHASE III SPACES FOR SUMMER HOUSING, MUST MAKE SURE THAT THEY SUBMIT SUMMER HOUSING APPLICATIONS BY APRIL 18, 2008.

If you currently live in Elm, Hunt Village, Lynch, Maple, Moore, Pine, Sanford, Scott or Witherspoon, you may stay where you are until the First Summer Term check-in on Saturday, May 17 or Sunday, May 18. We will notify staff that you may stay beyond the May 9 check-out deadline.

Greek Village residents remaining in the organization houses for the summer will be coordinated through the Greek Village Residence Coordinator.

If you currently live off campus, your check-in is on May 26 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Greek Village.

STORAGE
If you must move to temporary housing in Scott Hall, we will put you in a room by yourself so you will have plenty of room for your belongings and can avoid having to store them.

CHECKING IN TO YOUR SUMMER SCHOOL APARTMENT
Apartments reserved for summer school are in Martin Village.

Check-in will be located in the Greek Village Office.

First Summer Term
Check-In Date

05/17/2008 & 05/18/2008 Current Residents

05/26/2008 New Residents

First Class Day 05/27/2008

Second Summer Term
Check-In Date

07/06/2008 & 07/07/2008

First Class Day 07/07/2008

If you keep your housing for both terms, there no need to check-in again on July 6. Just stay in your apartment until the Second term ends on August 12.

LATE ARRIVALS
Remember, according to your Summer School Housing contract, you must be checked in to your summer apartment by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27 (for First term) or by Monday, July 7 (for Second term) or you may forfeit your housing.

If you must arrive late, please e-mail or write a letter to the Department of Housing and Residence Life which includes your name, student ID number, and the expected date and time of your arrival so we will know to hold your apartment for you and can make special arrangements for your check-in. E-mails should be sent to housing@uncc.edu. Check-in for all late arrivals will be in "P" Building.

BICYCLES
Please keep your bike in your room until May 29. Because so many students abandon bicycles at the end of the semester, bikes left at the racks on May 28 will be picked up and donated to charity.

FOOD SERVICE
Call (704) 687-2020 for details about hours of operation in food service areas, or check their website at www.auxiliary.uncc.edu

ROAD RUNNER INTERNET SERVICE
Take your ethernet cable with you to your summer school apartment. If you need assistance, refer to their website at http://carolina.rr.com/uncc or call (704) 687-3778. Leave your name, phone number, and when you will be available to meet with a technician.

PLANS FOR CHECKING OUT

To avoid unnecessary financial penalties, plan now to be checked out by 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 2, for the First Summer term, and by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12, for the Second Summer.

We hope this information answers your questions about Summer housing.

If you have other concerns or need more information, please feel free to e-mail us at housing@uncc.edu or call (704) 687-7501.
