Handbook - Welcome from Residence Life | ||||||||||
|
The Department of Housing and Residence Life staff pledges to foster inclusive communities that enhance the academic, personal and social development of residential students. Furthermore, we strive to provide students with a variety of living environments that are clean, safe and affordable. On behalf of the Department of Housing and Residence Life staff, welcome to campus living at UNC Charlotte. Living on campus is special. Our facilities are among the finest anywhere and our caring, interested staff help add distinct value to your educational experience. Above all, you will have the opportunity to live, learn and grow through the unique experience of living with other students. Living on campus at UNC Charlotte is so much more than just a room in a building that happens to be in the center of all the campus action. Instead, it is a lifestyle that is full of exciting opportunities, facilities, amenities, and services. We strongly believe that living on campus at UNC Charlotte is a “Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience” because, by living on campus, you're making an investment in your education. Campus residents have additional academic support not available to commuters. Research shows that students living on campus earn higher grades, are more likely to continue in college, and are more likely to graduate within four years. This Resident Handbook is an extension of the housing contract, and will help you become familiar with the services we provide and the rights and responsibilities you have as an on-campus student. It is in your best interest to read it thoroughly. If you have further questions, consult other available publications, the housing website, or contact the Housing and Residence Life staff in your hall or area office. Again, welcome home to the halls!
