Mr. Allan Blattner
Associate Director -
Staff & Student Development

As the Associate Director for Staff and Student Development, Allan is responsible for overseeing the selection, training, and supervision of the full-time and student staff that live in the residential areas. He is also responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the residence life program. Allan is also the advisor to the Resident Students Association (RSA).
Allan came to UNC Charlotte in 2000 and found a "changing University and its desire to get better and grow." Over the years, Allan has seen both the University and the Department of Housing and Residence Life do just that. Before coming to UNC, Allan was the Director of Residence Life for two years at Allegheny College (PA) and had worked for several years prior to that as their Judicial Officer as well as both an Assistant and Associate Director of Residence Life. Allan has also worked in a variety of Residence Life leadership positions with Ohio University, The University of Vermont, and San Diego State University since 1989.
Allan has served on numerous University committees, including the Diversity Committee, Leadership Matrix Team, the Greek Matrix Team, and various search committees. He has also served in a number of positions with the professional organizations to which he belongs. Over the past few years, he has served as a Commission III Directorate Board Member for ACPA, a Program Committee Chairperson for ACUHO-I, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for SEAHO, and a member of the NCHO 2005 Conference's Host Committee (Finance Chairperson).
In the Charlotte community, Allan coaches AYSO (soccer), Mallard Creek Optimist Club (baseball) and St. Mark Catholic School (basketball) youth teams and is a volunteer with Refugee Resettlement Office - Adopt A Family program.
Allan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University and a Master of Education (Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration) from The University of Vermont. |

Mr. Michael Denton

Michael works with the development of first-year student programs and the coordination of first-year student services between Housing and other campus departments. He is also involved in furthering the academic mission of Housing, in particular with learning communities partnerships. Michael also teaches in a learning community with a leadership development focus for freshmen.
Michael has worked for Housing and Residence Life since 2003 and enjoys "the opportunity to create and innovate and the quality of people in our department." Michael previously worked in housing departments at Georgia State University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (FL), and the State University of West Georgia.
Michael's professional involvement includes attendance and/or presentations at conferences and workshops sponsored by the National Learning Communities Project, the Living-Learning division of ACUHO-I, ACPA, and the Southeastern Learning Community Conference, and the Gallup Organization. Michael is a trained Strengths Performance Coach and believes in strengths-based living and working. He also serves as a lead facilitator for Leadershape, Inc.
Outside of work, Michael teaches Aikido and contributes to the gay and lesbian community in Charlotte. He notes that "the best thing about Charlotte is small-city living with some big-city amenities."
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (English) and a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education, both from Mississippi State University. |

Ms. Casey Tullos

Casey is responsible for the supervision, encouragement and support of the Residence Coordinators and Graduate Assistants who serve the Holshouser, Hunt Village, Lynch, Phase 5, Sanford and Witherspoon residential communities. In addition, she is responsible for the recruitment, orientation and training of the Residence Coordinator staff as well as the coordination of ongoing training for Resident Advisors and Managers.
Casey has worked for the Department of Housing and Residence Life for several years in a variety of challenging positions. She started at UNC Charlotte as a Residence Coordinator and later worked as the Coordinator of Conference and Guest Housing. She notes that one of the first things that attracted her to Charlotte was "how green and vibrant everything is - the weather is wonderful!" She soon discovered that coming to work for HRL was a good decision. "We have supportive, hard working colleagues at every level of the Department," she notes, adding, "collaboration and teamwork really mean something to the people who work here!"
Professionally, Casey is a member of ACPA and has attended the annual ACPA conference for several years and is a member of ACUHO-I where she served on the 1998 Host Committee and the 2004 Program Committee. Closer to home, Casey is a member of SEAHO, and NCHO and has served both of those organizations as members of various committees.
When Casey is not busy with class, where she is working on her doctorate, she watches Carolina Panthers football and enjoys reading for pleasure and writing.
Casey holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Management) from the University of South Alabama and a Master of Education degree (Student Personnel in Higher Education) from The University of Georgia. |

Ms. Kristy DeSantis

As an Assistant Director, Kristy supervises 5 Residence Coordinators, coordinates the Resident Advisor recruitment and selection process and manages the departmental student conduct system.
Kristy began working for the Department of Housing and Residence Life in early summer of 2007. She earned her M.Ed. in Student Personnel from the University of South Carolina, and she has a BA degree in Communication Arts from Allegheny College. Before becoming Assistant Director here at UNC Charlotte, Kristy was an Area Coordinator at Davidson College and Director of Residence Life at Belmont Abbey College.
Professionally, Kristy is a member of ACPA and ASJA national organizations and NCHO in North Carolina. She enjoys these professional societies.
Personally, Kristy enjoys going to concerts, photography, eating out at her favorite restaurant, Brooklyn South, and is constantly finding new, exciting things to do in the Charlotte area.
Kristy says about her job, "The opportunity to work with such amazing people at a rapidly growing institution in one of the best cities in the country" is what attracted her to the position in the first place. Since starting work for HRL, she finds she likes to "get paid to do work that is fun and rewarding."

Ms. Stephanie Booker
Administrative Assistant for Programs

Stephanie is responsible for providing administrative support to the Associate Director for Staff and Student Development. She also provides support for programs and projects involving the hiring and training of Resident Advisors, Resident Managers, and Residence Coordinators. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management, and is presently pursuing her Master's degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Nonprofit Management and Leadership.

Teresa is responsible for updating and maintaining the student conduct database pertaining to student violations. She also provides administrative support for the programs and projects that are managed by Residence Life. |
